Last week the first-ever RiverWoods Manchester scholarship awards were presented at a community-wide meeting. It was an uplifting event, that is certain. The story begins with a few residents wishing to do more for the hard-working staff of their community. Several months later it is coming full circle with the first group of awards.
Several months ago a scholarship committee of residents and staff was formed. They developed a process and a timeline, and the campaign accelerated forward. The scholarship fund grew to $20,788.00. Contributions were from residents, the leadership, staff, and the Resident Tavern Committee.
Eleven employees submitted applications who remained anonymous to the committee during the selection process.
After serious deliberation and voting by the eight resident members, five were chosen to receive $2,000 each.
Members of the committee and management of the staff presented the scholarships during a resident council update meeting. Giving back to those who give so much for RiverWoods filled the room with a sense of pride, purpose, and connection.
