Crafty Creations & Giving Back

“There is no greater joy in life than the joy of creating something” – Abhay Kumar

Joy and comradery were in full effect on December 3rd and 4th in the Birch Hill Room at RiverWoods Manchester, for the return of the annual craft fair. Resident, employee, and visiting crafters featured a wide array of offerings in a variety of mediums including glasswork, ornaments, original paintings, jewelry, woodwork, knitting, and crocheting.

Sarah, a member of our team in The Lodge provided a demonstration of spinning wool and answered questions about the process of dying wool and creating yarn.

In addition, this event featured a bake sale and raffles for a resident-made quilt and a gift basket.

The proceeds from the fair created a contribution to the RiverWoods Manchester Benevolent Fund. This fund covers the monthly fees for residents who outlive their assets through no fault of their own.

The Give Back Breakdown:

  • Table rental $405
  • Knitting group $148
  • Bake sale $269
  • Quilt raffle $400
  • Gift basket $100
  • Grand total: $1,322

The fair was organized by a committee of residents and it was a big success. This event brought the community together, offered a look at the unique talents, and provided an opportunity to purchase holiday gifts keeping shopping ultra-local.

This is a magical time of year to take the first step and schedule a virtual or in-person tour!
